SECURECAN: Secure Almost Anything, Anywhere, Anytime
One afternoon on our way to a friend’s house, there were Trash Bins on wheels all over the street. When we arrived at the home, their trash bins were missing. We found one at a neighbor’s house almost one block away. We knew something was needed to secure Trash Bins, especially when there are storms, heavy rain and high-winds in the area. Additionally, in instances when birds, animals, and rodents get into the bins, they can make a mess of litter all over the yard.
When we searched vendors and the internet for a solution to secure the trash bins, we couldn't find anything. This is why we created "SECURECAN".
We've taken SECURECAN, on camping trips to secure the tent and other gear. We've taken the kit to the beach to secure beach umbrellas & sun shelters. The kit is easy to install and depending on where and type of surface, it takes less than 5 minutes.
The kit comes complete with what you need to secure something. To install it, all you need is a hammer. If you want to remove it, you'll need a small garden shovel to dig it out. Once its removed, hose off the dirt, wipe it down, and put a drop of oil on the anchor to keep the parts freely moving.
If you install it into a deck post, concrete or a foundation, you will need to drill a 1" hole. It's a DIY tool; think creatively, but test your ideas first for safety.
If you install the kit to secure your trash bins all you do is install it once and leave it in place. When your trash servicing company comes, show them how easy it is to disconnect (push the spring) and reconnect (just push the connector onto the bin). It is so easy for the recyclers and you’re not dealing with trash and bins all over your street.
THINGS TO CONSIDER:
Who will be liable if your bin rolls into the street and cause an accident or worse?
Once you have one, tell the neighbors so they can help keep the streets clear and solve this problem. It will be so nice to come home and not have trash cans all over the streets.
Over a year ago a Child riding the bike on the side walk rode out into the street, dodging a moving bin, and was hit by a passing car. What if you are driving on a road and one of the empty bins roll out in front of you? Trash bins can be dangerous when left on the side of the road or your driveway unsecured.
